This program focuses on how to support literacy learning, teach struggling readers, facilitate professional development of reading teachers, and diagnose and respond to literacy challenges encountered by students.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to this program, a student must
- hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree, and
- hold a valid bachelor's-level professional educator certificate in early childhood education, elementary education (K-6), or collaborative special education (K-6) OR a valid bachelor's-level professional educator certificate in any are of education along with a passing score on the Praxis Teaching Reading test validated for use in Alabama.
